November 26, 2011: Guatemala-El Salvador border crossing at La Hachadura. Border crossings are usually teeming with peddlers, street markets, and anyone else trying to make a buck at the middle. You can get cheap food while you wait in line, knick knacks and souvenirs, or duty-free products in some zones.

November 13, 2011: Caye Caulker, Belize. Our boat bedroom at the hostel came with gecko friends! I tried to pick him up to put him outside, but he went from my hand to my head and stayed there while we took pictures. He liked me!

October 29, 2011: Pueblo de Teotihuacán, Mexico. This place had excellent mole enchiladas, but when I asked for café con leche, I got a cup of hot water. And a bottle of instant coffee. And evaporated milk. It ain’t the Ritz, but that enchilada was worth it!

November 26, 2011: Near Playa El Tunco, El Salvador. A close-up of a semi-truck laden with sugar cane. They were a common sight in that area, and this one was driving next to us on the highway long enough for me to snap an artsy picture. It would have been more artsy if it was in focus, but my camera’s LCD screen lied to me.
